What are the most important things to check.

First Item

  • The Oil....
  • The Tire Pressure....
  • The Brakes....
  • The Power Steering Fluid....
  • The Alignment....
  • The Antifreeze/Coolant....
  • The Tire wear....
  • The Air Filter....
  • Battery connections....
  • Is there enough gas in your car?  Sometimes we have towed cars in because of no gas.  Check is your best option.

What should I check before driving long distances?

Some of the parts you must check include:

  1. Coolant. Most new radiators have overflow bottles marked min and max water levels, which are easy to find.
  2. Tires. The minimum legal tread depth is 3 millimetres.
  3. Spare tire pressure.
  4. Engine oil.
  5. Windscreen washer fluid.
  6. Lights.
  7. Fan belt.
  8. Hoses.

Basic Car Maintenance Tips for Beginners

  1. Keep an eye on the Fluids. Keeping the motor oil, power steering fluid, and coolant topped off is an easy way to maintain your car's performance.
  2. Owner's Manual.
  3. Watch the Warning Lights.
  4. Check the Tire Pressure.
  5. Listen to your car.
  6. Lights check.
  7. Do a Walk Around.

Pre-purchase Inspection

Always have a pre-purchase inspection. It can save you hundreds of dollars.

Tips

Save time and money... always have two sets of wheels, one for winter and one for summer. This will help your tires last longer.

Timing

To beat the rush always think ahead. Don't wait until the last minute to change your tires.  Winter tires don't need snow to be efficient. All season and summer tires lose their adhesion qualities in cold conditions.

Small things

  1. Change the oil.
  2. Change the oil filter, air filter and fuel filter.
  3. Check the PCV valve for proper operation.
  4. Check the spark plugs and spark plug wires.

We recommend bringing your car in for maintenance every 6 months or 6,000 miles, whichever comes first.
